ran the REEL COMPROMISE from OC south to the washington canyon was looking for a warm water eddy south of the tip . found a small temp break and worked it over all day stayed in a 2mile square working from warm to cold temps were from 66 to 69 deg . put baits in a mix of ilanders & witchs and a couple of spreaderbars . came tight on two first fish in the box was a 40lb yft . the other fish was on an 80 wide out fit and was giving the angler a hard time , fought him for over an hour before we get a glimps can see it is a big tuna just not what kind . finally we sink steel and it is a bigeye , fish bit an ilander on the long rigger back about 150 .
put baits back in and worked the are over , get a few single bites . go four for six once . three for three another time . I called a couple of wachapreague boats to come get in on the action as it was hot and heavy one .
finished the day with 14 yft , 165 lb bigeye & 2 mahi . great day to be fishing . we only had two anglers onboard plus the mate and my self . managed a couple bridge pole bites so I was busy with them also . we had the owners 4 yr old daughter on the boat , could not get her on a fish though she slept on the bridge couch allday .

Congrats Kevin. goog fishin .We ended up south because of late report from boat behind us at the marina came in with a load. So the plans changed to south. We cought about 40-50 yft and kept 5 25-40 lb fish. About 10oclock I hooked a fish on a 50 with braid he took 500 yards of line off instantly and I fought him for about 20 minutes and pulled the hook. F---:confused: I would have to say big eye.
Glad to see you were able to get the steel in em.
Kevin - congrats on a very successful trip. Yesterday, we had hoped for a wx window to go to Poormans or Washington, but possible severe storms kept us along the 20 fa line down near the Parking Lot. While several boats there landed a few, we did not, and we raced back to OC just in time to beat the storm. Oh for a 60-footer!

Great day for the owner and family. A box full of meet is a good day. Hopefully the bite wil stay good this week. Boat will be out Tuesday and Friday as it stands now.

Van the boat is nice we went through one storm on the way in and had the shower at the docks around 7 . I called you on 1 & 68 did not get a response . I can get you a ride on the boat if you want , we could have used some extra anglers on sat .
Lucian this is going to be a good year offshore , I hope the yfts stay here longer . I'm ready to go again this weekend fri or sat if you need a HO . I'm enjoying the pig rig already . I was watching the us open on tv during the day .

Jack I think it might workout for me , so far Mike the owner is happy with my efforts . we might need a few anglers on July 3rd , I will know by monday or tuesday if we do .

I am leaving out of OC as well hoping to leave the inlet 4:30 I'll be on channel 01 25 contender GRACE. Good luck. Starting at the south side of poormans and heading south to the washington.
