2nd island

I dove the second island yesterday and had a fun time. the viz was minimal at best but I did find a good wreck anchor, and a rod and reel, it was a roller rod with a gold reel I have not cleaned it good enough to see who made it. I think the reel is beyond repair but I think the rod might be salvagable. I also managed to shoot a couple spades. all in all a good day.

Glad to hear about folks getting out. This weather seems perfect. I'm out of town and not able to dive for several weeks, so keep the reports coming so I don't have withdrawals too much.

How deep did you go to shoot your spades?

the biggest I got that day was shot with just a mask and gun, my brother still had my fins, booties, and snorkel. that spade was only about 2 feet deep, and the others were less than 20 ft

Spades dont usuallly go real deep but they are just hard to find in the limited vis in the bay. When you do find them you know it because the whole schools swims by. Then of course there are the mechanical set backs when you find them such as leaving the safety engaged on the spear gun, or the go by so fast you cant turn quick enough to get a shot off. I have only been in only once this year and I sure do miss it. Maybe if I get my boat running again I can get out soon. Martin
