Am thinking of going offshore in the next 2 weeks and are unsure where to go. Live near Richmond and will be taking a 25 foot boat so I think Rudee would be to far of a run. Which place would be better to go? And, about how far do I need to run out the inlet? Would like to catch dolphin and tuna would be a plus.
Thanks for any input,
Matt

wachapreague would be my choice the washington or norfolk canyons are about 50 miles run from the inlet . right now the yft tuna bite is off the hook on the 100 fa line anywhere off the coast . goodluck if you go .

Matt:

There used to be a state boat ramp in Oyster, VA, I'm unsure if it's still useful & free (haven't launched from there since the late 80's). I think you'll find the Norfolk Canyon & the Fingers closer from there than Wachapreague; however, should you have to run to the Washington, Wachapreague would be closer.

Thanks for the advice. I have only gone offshore from Charleston, SC a few times but never VA or NC. We slayed dolphin and had alot of fun but I hope to catch tuna as I have never caught one before.
