Morehead city next week

I'll be down in Morehead with my boat next week. I think I've gotten some good gouge on the offshore fishing and am planning one day at least for that.
My question is on the inshore. I'd like to fish with the kids for a bit, around the turning basin I'd imagine. They are 5 and 3, so croaker/pins/spot are usually the ticket.
Would it be worth setting out a chumbag, and are there any cobia around?
