Fished with my buddy Neal, his wife Janet and my friend Keith on the Miss Janet 2 Cape Horn 31 started where we had a good catch last Sat and no one around but this was a different story. We dropped on the 425 in 100 fathoms with 6 other boats as were letting out the first line it gets hit before it goes 20 ft back he missed but we jigged it and he piled back on thought we had a big eye from teh way it ran and fought but its a 50lb yft foul hooked. By the time we landed him and got the spread back out they were at least 30 other boats I pushed out a bit and we got another YFT about same size. Start pushing east to get away from the crowd and hit the temp break on the 795 went from 68.4 up to 70.1 blended change and worked it for an hour got two gaffers and another gaffer on the way back in from the break not much life out there.
Fished with the pack the rest of the day w/o another knockdown. Headed in and stopped on the fingers to work the bait pods and hopefully Bluefin but no bites. Stopped again about 5 miles east of the tower when we spotted a turtle in a slick and thought we saw a moster cobia under it I pitched out the horse bally on islander and began to jig it, the water pushes as the fish takes the bait and runs I count him off then lock it up and the fight is on after a half an hour we think we have the world record cobia but up comes a 7 ft 200lb tiger shark get him leaderd boat side and he flips out and thankfully cuts loose cool sight though mean looking dude but cool stripes he was lit up.
