Just wanted to introduce myself to the "Florida Angler" portion of this forum. My name is Mark, screen name "Dyllan". I've been a part of Tidal Fish for some time now while I've been here in VA. (Military).
Well now I've retired and we are moving back to FL. after 21 years away. I'll be moving to Port Orange and I have a 23' center console with a 250 Suzuki outboard. I was wondering if my fellow FL. fishermen could give me a run down as to where I can launch, what is bitten, can I get a boat fishing license like they have in VA. or does everyone on the boat have to have a license, is deep jigging something that is done down here, how far east do I have to go to hit 200+ feet of water, etc...etc...
I'll be back home on July 17th and hope to get on the water before the end of the month. I have a Garmin 4208 chartplotter (need to get a G2 chip for east coast of FL. now), also a foruno fish finder I use as a back up, 2 vhf radios and all the safety gear of course...
Any and all advice would be great,,,, don't know how it is now in FL. about helping others with Lat. and Long. positions and advice, when I was there 21 yrs. ago is was great how everyone helped everyone out,,, over here in Virginia Beach, Va. on the Chesapeake,,, although the fishing is great,,, guys would rather give away their wives and kids then give out a Lat. and long. to help a fellow fisherman out.... CRAZY!!!! Anyhow,, look forward splashing the boat in FL. waters and being back to my roots. Hope to make new friends and more memories.... Thanks...

Please help this retired military man out. I know we still have some great patriots out there and especially in Florida. After all, it is Fourth of July weekend. I can vouch for him . He is a good guy and just wants to get his son Dyllan and wife Allyson on a few fish while in Florida. Happy Fourth of July to everyone and their family and thanks in advance for your help. Beth

Thanks Beth,,, you were always there to help out in VA..... I PM'd you back,,, thanks for the kind words... You of course were the exception to helping people out when they were looking for advice... Thanks again to you and your husband. Keep making memories and God Bless ya.
PS. Did you get the darn electrical problem fixed on your boat?

don't get upset yet! wait till your first attempted car jacking, or home invasion then you'll get the real taste of FLA!
Look at the amount of views per thread, almost no one actually living/fishing in FLA reads this site, new fishin grounds call for a new site, you will probably have to spend a lil time surfin the net till you get one that is as "dialed in" as tidal fish is up here in VA!

I too was born and raised in FLA, born in Key West on the navy base, back when US-1 was a two lane remodelled train bridge! now it's plum fulla fruits of all descriptions, wouldn't wanna go back to my home fer nuthin!
the average fishermen on the east coast of FLA was no less protective of the honey holes than the Virginian counterpart, try the local tackle shops, a lil' money spent often lossens stuck jaws!
