View Full Version : Upstate trip
Just got home from upstate trip to Saratoga Lake fishing with my 44 year old son in a Bassmasters Tournament. We managed a 4 pound bass, several pickeral (5), and 2 pounders (bass) in quantities of 7. Unfortunately, a torrential rain storm and high winds took up most of our time (6 hours out of 8 hours fished). But we managed and arrived back to shore to find out that we were last in fish weights. It must be those expert natives up there. My fresh water fishing days ended many years ago fortunately.

Welcome back Don. Sounds like a fun trip and you can't replace those father/son memories.
I know what you mean about freshwater fishing. I caught some sunfish last weekend at my parent's place on Horsey's Pond near Laurel. It's fun, but it ain't saltwater fishing![grin] Everything is bigger and badder in the salt!

OK, wisenheimers. Not ALL saltwater fish are bigger and badder than fresh water fish. Case in point - white perch vs muskie! Or porgy vs northern pike.
Besides, it's not all about size, you know. [wink]

Lessee... I caught a 15.5 lb Northern Pike up in Canada. That's hard to beat no matter if it's salty or not! [grin]
