Reports from Smith Point seem few and far between. Either few TF members in that area, or they're reluctant to post. Personally haven't been out from Smith Point yet this year. I'll probably be going out from Norview Marina in Deltaville (south of Smith Point). Seems many more spanish seem to congregate there. If only we could get Omega out of there, we might be seeing some of the better fishing that they're seeing in Maryland :52:

Planning to try tomorrow. Expecting to head south from Smith Pt. and put out a spread of Clarks once we start marking anything. Since there are some reports of Spanish within the last few days north of Windmill, it makes sense to go that direction. Plan to follow the channel edge down that way.
Will post results one way or the other to help those trying on the weekend.

Lot's of small blues around there this weekend and picked up one spanish. We spent about 3 hours trolling around in sight of the lighthouse. Watch for pots on the edge of deep water.

Fish was caught in close to the green can #1. We have had alotta success catching in this general area. There is a pretty nice shelf just inside that #1 can, but beware of crab pots. Fish came off a wwb line and #1 diving planer with a small clark spoon, Silver and pink. My son's were fighting over who's turn it was too reel one in. I gave it to the energetic one because I was'nt sure there was really a fish on it. It was way back and the planer would'nt reset. Word to the wise if you got a rod that will not se back, "It might be a spanish swimming at ya". Good luck everyone's, And wish we had more intel to share. Silver and green was good or the lil blues. No fish off the # 2 boards. Lot's of skates. Reel nice marks on the deep edge of point lookout around 50 feet, but no good hook ups. Share whatcha learn, and be safe.

Promised to report on Thursday's outing so here it is:
Trolled from just north of the lighthouse down to the mouth of the Great Wicomico zigzagging along the channel edge.
Took 4 blues and one Spanish, lost some blues in the water during reel-in. Most fish caught north of 63 in about 45 feet of water.
Eventually got chased by the Reedville who came out and started vacuuming pretty much right in our path at the mouth of the GW. Man does that boat smell bad when you are downwind!
Go get 'em this weekend folks. I will be off to Carolina for a couple of weeks.

Jack,
The menhaden fleet fished Smith Pt. hard today. i was bottom fishing with a charter and did well but I had to dodge them.
The gill netters have worked the channel over well too.
Blues slow there with all the traffic but plenty of croakers up to 17 inches today.
Good luck .

Chop was ROUGH sat. left out of smith point about 10:30 (I know, took my little girl and mom.Couldn't get them to leave Harrisonburg before 5:30) went straight to light house and decided to try north between light house and #1 green can. trolled about 15 minutes and had 3 rods hooked up with blues. Two got off right at the boat, one in the boat. caught two more trolling and my 8 year old had had enough of the rough ride. Went back in, got some squid and minnows and light tackle. drifted the jetty for another two hours and caught 2 more blues and an almost keeper flounder. Blues shredded the minnows, just heads left every time we pulled up to start our drift over. All in All a fun day was had by all though.
