Heading down to OBX next weekend, was wondering if there are any productive spots on the sound side were I could launch a canoe.?

its still early for soundside action but lots of stipers around the bridges with buctails and rattle traps.some croakers and pig fish with scattered i mean scattered trout.try by the manteo high rise bridge there is a good launch site right across from pirates cove marina.this is the only bridge that will afffford you some wind protection when in a small boat.the other bridges currituck and manns harbor will have more rockfish on them but you will need a really slack wind kinda day as they tend to get rough on hard sw or ne wind.season in on wed, fri, sat, sun and you can keep 2 18 inches or larger.check with the tackle shops before you go because this is the time of year when thay close the season on a moments notice because of the recreational tonage has been met.hope that helps.

I fished both the Oregon Inlet and Washington Baum bridge (bridge to Roanoke Is.) this past weekend from my kayak. I managed to catch 1 skate in green slough on the sound side of Oregon Inlet and one 16" striper from beneath the Washington Baum bridge. The winds blew fairly steady all weekend, which kept me off the water more than I would have liked. But none the less it was fun!
