How high a line test can I go?

I'm going out after AJ this weekend and am bringing my own rod/reel with me for part of the fishing. I have a Penn 321 GTI w/ 30# mono paired with 7' ugly stick, mh action, 20-40# line (bought it and outfitted it for catching cobia from my kayak). Southpaw, the guy who i'm ho'ing for recommended that i take it up to 60#-80# mono. I don't doubt that the reel could take it but I'm worried about the rod. Is it stout enough to take the fight from an AJ or do I have to go with something a bit heavier?

I'm really looking forward to my first fight with an AJ but don't want to break a rod because I underestimated the fish.

just use the 60# for leader material about 20' should do it
