It was déjà vu of the previous trip all over again. After testing Hobie Adventurer with Sail, I went Point Lookout State Park.
I was hoping a good sized Flounder and calmer water. But I was wrong again. The NW wind was blowing at 15 + MPH. The mean wave was about 2'. While drifting and paddling, I thought I need a Mirage Hobie. I caught 10 spots (at 6-8 inch), 2 Croakers (at 8-9 inch), an American eel, 7 flounders (at 12-14 inch). I think I will hit other places in July and come back to PLO for flounders in August.

Hey Joe,
The local tackleshop keeps reporting that flounder are being caught in Cornfield Harbor, but I haven't seen many reports on tidalfish confirming that. Cornfield Harbor is a big place. Have you tried the oyster sanctuary that's about 150yds out in front of the fishing pier on the Bay side?
What did you think of the Hobie Adventure? After reading reports of you covering 17 miles paddling, I figure you can cover 30 miles easy with a Hobie. :D
I hit Drum Point on Tuesday, and it was pretty frustrating. There was bait everywhere, sometimes the bottom half of my fishfinder turned black, but I wasn't having much luck jigging or casting (a few bite-offs). To make matters worse, I saw blues in the 16-20in range jumping sporadically around me. :52: Lots of live-lining sized spots in 30-40ft of water, though.

Bill,
I thought about goint to Cornfield Harbor first. But I didn't because of strong N and NW wind both times.
I am looking into Mirage Hobie ,Adventurer or Outback right now,. I've been checking used ones and I can buy either one. But I couldn't find any. Since you have outback model, let me ask you a question. I am planning to kayak with some of my nephews and husbands of nieces. They are 6'2" - 6'3" weigh 220 -265lb. I think I and 220 lb nephews will be ok with Adventurer but I am not sure about one of them. He weighs 265lb. I feel I have to buy outback model because of him. I am not planning to fish in rough water with tehm at all.
To Anyone with Adventurer,
Is Adventurer ok with a 265lb man?
Thanks,
Joe
