Headed down on Sunday for the week to fish offshore in my 24.
If we get blown out, what should I look for in the Sound?
I posted this once before and the response was that grey trout may be in the area.
Any tips as I am bringing 4 newer than I newbies down from the Chesapeake Bay.
THANKS

ooops i see hateras.last fall we did really well all along the ferry channel.we fished close to the beach on the north side of hateras inlet.we caught flounder, trout, pig fish, the biggest sea mullet i have ever caught, some small sharks, spot, croakers, and a couple of drum.we tried drifting but my 25 foot boat drifted way to fast so we anchored and move a couple times before we found a good spot.blood worms, strip baits (squid and mullet), and tried a few artificials .sea mullet should be the big fish right now with some trout and drum and puffers.shrimp, squid, blood worms and maybe some cut mullet would be good variety of baits.some double bucktails and some single bucktails.some gotcha plugs.should be some good artificials to try for greyss, blues, and speckle trout.hope this helps ya.dont know what storms have done to the channel down there but ferry channels are always a good bet and that north side HAD some deep water almost all the way to the beach.

I second the ferry channel, for articicials bring mirro lures (grey trout)
a smorgasbord of bait is never a bad idea. stop in reddrum tackle in buxton they will tell you whats happenin and where
