Fished out of lockwood folley late yesterday afternoon and for a few hours this morning for spanish. They were chewin real good as we could hardley keep the lines in the water. The biggest one was about four pounds so not alot of fight on planer rods. We kept 16 while releasing 30-35 more. All fish were caught on #1 or #2 planners with 00 or 01 silver and gold spoons. We fished north of the inlet all the way to the Cape Fear RC. Saw several boats king fishing there but no hookups that we saw. Also caught 2 25-30 lb sharks that ate our spanish as we were briniging them to the boat.

TIght lines,

That's great news, I'm heading down there this weekend. First time fishing that area in a while. Can you suggest a marina where I can rent a wet slip for a week? 21 Grady Thanks for any help! What kind of condition is the inlet in?

We only have an 18' boat and trailer it so im not sure about the wet slip check under the holden beach bridge there are 2 marina's there. The inlet is passable but i would definetly watch people and follow other boats out and try to coming in. During low tide it got really sketchy. Make sure you have 14-20' of flourocarbon leader running from the board to the spoon or whatever you are pulling. We were using 25lb and i think the flouro made a big difference. Good luck.

I hear the Spanish are still biting and there is a GREAT flounder bite at the yaupon reef which is only a couple miles off the beach. Im planning on trying to slow troll cigar minnnows for kings around the CF river channel which is about 8-10 miles up the beach from LF. Other than that i havnt heard to much, if you talk to the guys at Ocean Isle fishing Center im sure they can point you in the right direction. They said the kings are biting pretty good around the Jungle and 65 foot hole. Shoot me a Bmail with some contact info if you want to hook up im heading down on saturday. We dont have much offshore capability with our 18'er but we like to hit the reefs in 6-9 mile range if the conditions are right. Last year this time we hit the Spade fish real good at the Gen. Sherman wreck which is 7-8 miles out of little river inlet and a pretty good ways from LF. If you want the coordinates for that or want to hook up and head out there B-mail me. Good luck.
