Just wondering if the new jet burners are better or worth it? Wondering if
it would be TOO HOT?

I just bought the dual burner from Bass Pro. One is a 60,000 BTU jet burner and the other is a 30,000 BTU regular burner. It comes with a nice stand. Reg price $179.00 and sale price $149.00. I cooked a bushel of crabs last week on the jet burner and it got pretty hot. You could see a little bluing on the stainless pot. It worked great, had a blue flame and no carbon deposits left on pot. I would be careful of an aluminum pot and high pressure heat though. Make sure you don't run out of water:eek2:..............Gary

Hotter the better. 140,000 btu or more as long as you keep enough liquid in the pot. I went w/the jet burner from th ecajun shoppe. It has a valve so you can adjust the heat once the steam starts rolling (within 5 mins.)
Nothing worse than crabs that take a long time to get steaming. They die before they steam. Price for regulator and unit came to about 80$.

I just got the Bayou Classic SP10 to go along w/my new 44qt ss pot.
It's a flamethrower, something like 180,000 BTU. It has it's own adjustable valve for smaller/bigger flame, plus air adjustment to make sure you're burning blue. I'm impressed how solid it is, the rolled legs will not find a gap between boards on your deck. This thing was only $53 w/free shipping from Amazon, so I can't see why you'd pay more. Only down side I can see is if your pot's bigger than mine it would hang over, but I'd think a 2" overhang all around would be ok.
Lost most of one eye's brow & lashes lighting it for the first time - anyone add a sparker to one of these things?

It's downright ugly when it happens on top of your electric stove in the kitchen. Don't ask me how I know.

Tom, here it is. Metal Benders in Balt. It's 20 inches high, by 16 inches wide, supposed to hold a bushel and some corn.
