So I am not really interested in catching trophy fish. I am interested in catching 2 to 5 pound fish for the table.

In years gone by (OK many many years gone by) I used to fish on the Chickahominy River up near the RT 5 bridge. Is it still good up there.

What kind of baits what kind of locations?

What time of day is best?

I am looking at taking one of my sons out to put some "freshwater" meat in the cooler. I am not looking for someone's secret trophy fish hole. I just want to catch a few dozen or two keeper cats for the table.

Oh and what is the deal with launching at the park? I don't mind paying the $8.00 but I would hate to drag my boat up there to find out that I can't launch for some reason.

Thanks for any advice.

Tom

Hi Tom,,,yep plenty of those cats around the boat houses down river a bit and near those boat houses on the right,,I launched from Rivers Rest camp ground Sat afternoon and payed the fee  so your good to go there. We picked up dozens of channel cats a little up river on the James in the gill net at sturgeion point. You wont have any problem catching a cooler full of little blues and nice channels -- we put the channels back for ya :clapping2:
