Thoughts on Duck - surf

Years ago, I remember driving along the beach near Corolla in August and stopping periodically to catch bluefish silhouetted in the breaking waves.

Will I find such sights this year?

I'll be throwing light tackle - spoons, plugs and flies....

Depending on conditions I would say there's a good chance Pax. When driving on the beach I always keep a stingsilver 11/8-2oz tied on and ready to go.
1st choice of color would be pink followed by chrome.

I'm in Corolla now and have had some success with my kayak. caught blues on Stingsilver, gotchas and soft bodied baits.

There have been large schools of bunker and I have caught a few of them and live lined them but did nothing but feed blues that way. Was trying for a big Jack crevalle that was following me around.

Today was basically a bust w/ more wind and current and no schools of bunker to speak of.

If you have a yak bring it, it'll help you out. There have been kingfish, flounder and blues caught in the surf that I know of.
