Departed Little Creek at 0430, ride out was beautiful..... No wind and a light 2-3 swell out of the south. Landed a little east of the fingers in 30 fathoms with lot's of life... bait on top, fliers, turtles, etc.. Within 10 minutes of getting lines out we have a white in the spread making one of my homemade 16" spreader bars it's bit**. Continued through the spread popping some clips but we never got the hookup. Ok no big deal it's only 7:30. Worked the area for a while and picked up 2 gaffers and missed several more.
Picked up and ran to the south wall of the canyon were the tuna bite had been 2 weeks prior. Then it happened...... another shot at a white. Came in on the teaser. Perfect drop back with the flat line and fish on!! Good job Andy! The fish gave a nice show and was released boat side.
This is Andy's 2nd white and the boats 1st billfish. Not too terribly bad for the 1st trip of the season.
