Has the Bite been on all the short stuff this year or is it just us? They've been eating the rubber teasers, (not the squid but the bally side). Most of our bites have been on the flats or shorts nothing on the wwwb that I can recall in all of June.

I fished 3x the last week of June for YFT and caught many sub-legals and a good number of 30-50 class fish. When the bites were single & double, I would say they were most often on the flats & short rigger. I fished last weekend and ended up offshore; again most of my single bites were on the flats or short rigger. I have a small cc and run my flat lines just in front of my spreader bar in the center and my short riggers just behind the spreader bar. My hope is that the spreader bar is the center of attraction and the fish hit the meat trolled around it and sometimes it actually works.

Thr YFT will bite short, but the BFT will mostly take the way back, long rigger or deep bait. That's not an absolute, just my experience. I don't think I've caught a bluefin off the transome, but many yellows have felt the sting of the steel from there.

Looking back at the trips so far this year its hard to say. 1st trip anything we threw in the water got hit. The second trip we had our first bite on the shotgun but it pulled off close to the boat. The only other barrage we got 6 on together did start with a flat line very memorable because it was on 50# fluro and the fish snaped it like a twig but then they took the other flat, middle bar, long rigger and shotgun too. I guess thats why we put out a spread so where ever they decide to bite we hope we have it covered. Martin
