Belhaven area fishing

I am heading to the Belhaven/Washington area this week and am wondering if it's worth the while to drag the boat from Charlotte for late afternoon fishing. Any suggestions or ideas out there?

Aquasport 222 CCP pull for 200+ miles each way at $3/gallon means I probably should plan on catching some fish!

You can probably find some nice Red Drum in the shallows late in the evening. But that's a long trip for just one fish limit, unless your in it for the sport. I don't usually fish the Pungo or Pamlico rivers, but fishing can be good around Swan Quarter and fantastic from Middle Bay to the mouth of the Neuse for huge Red Drum, this time of year.

If you can get glassy calm water sight casting and catching Red Drum can wear you out In fact I am planning on a trip for next weekend or next week.
