Well I am new to this board on the web site. So thanks in advance. I picked up 5 shimano baitrunner 6500B's for for cheap. Now the question is what type of line. I have always been a mono man, but thinking of trying braid. I will be useing them for stripers (yes I know it is over kill), but also for offshore.(ie. mahi, bottom fishing) I was thinking 50lb braid with a top shot of 20lbs mono. Any thoughts.

I would definately use braid. Are you trolling or jigging? I think most trollers use 50lb.

It will be mostly for jigging/LL.

Ok. For jigging use between 15-20lb braid and then a leader of 20-30lb mono. That will be strong enough for anything around here. If you are going to fish offshore for larger species you may want to use some heavier line depending on what you are targeting. I know guys who even use 10lb braid for jigging and they have caught fish up to 40 inches on it.
