Can anyone tell me how the Kings have been doing around the Atlantic Beach area?? What's the live bait situation??

not many posters from down south on this board yet,from 2nd hand reports the kings are around OI and north and there is bait.hope this helps.mike

Thanks for the info Mike. I've got several friends headed down this weekend to Atlantic Beach for a week of fishing. King Mac tourney for a local fishing group.

Hi Grady 23,
Fished out of Atlantic Beach yesterday. Very windy and very dirty water due to the last few days of rain. Due to the winds we kept close to the beach. Caught 20 lb. king mackerel around AR 315 using cigar minnow and a Fish Finder cigar minnow rig. Put a cigar minnow down deep at 40 ft. and caught a 30 lb. red drum. Just as soon as the water clears up the kings will fire off! The water temperatures have dropped a good bit over the last few days. The live bottoms off about 15 miles will be good places to look by next week. There should be plenty of 20 lb. plus mackerel showing up in these areas very soon. The FLW kingfish finals are this weekend. We should get some good reports form them.

Thanks for the report Capt Joe. I didn't get to make the trip and haven't heard from my friends as of this posting. I've been watching the weather via NOAA reports and it looks like it's been a ROUGH time down there.
BTW --- Nice Website -- Great lookin tackle too!

The winds have been rough the last few days and it is going to be windy 15-25 out of the north this weekend, but today there were plenty of kings caught in the FLW tournament. Most of these fish were caught at the AR 315 and the Barge Wreck. All of these places are within 3 or 4 miles of the beach. I have a charter for kings tomorrow. I should have a better handle on them after the mornings fishing.
