Headed out to the middle penninsula to a spot I had heard was good for schoolie stripers this time of year. Not the best day fortrying it on a kayak, not a cloud in the sky and pretty gusty down there.

Started off fishing some nice grass flats looking for reds or specks but found neither. Decided to paddle out to some structure looming on the horizon.

Only schoolies around were blues. Glad I had the 8 weight to subdue beasts like this:

Had a better blue on for a minute until he ran me around an old dock piling. I slung a half and half under the dock to see who else was home.

Time to paddle back.

Overall, had a nice outing. Hopefully one day I'll crack the whole saltwater thing. I've been such a die-hard freshwater fisherman so long it's been a hard transition.

I see you made it down to my home waters & visited New Point Comfort. The wind has been a killer all year! Gotta be out there early & late in the day - especially in summer. The bright mid-day sun generally shuts them down.
