I bought an 88 tracker V bottom aluminum boat witha 25 Mercury. When running at speed, there is water that comes over the back of the transom. Enough water to make it not right. Any thoughts?????

TRIM or engine mounting if no trim is on your boat

I had a 18' aluminium tracker ( not a deep v) for bass fishing. If you stop abruptly water would come over the transom -- I just learned to ease down on the throttle when stopping. Certainly the trim or mount could cause this. How much weight do you have at the back? Trolling motor batteries?
I saw a tracker where someone one took a piece of lexan and baffle that went across the back. The purpose was to keep water from coming over the transom. Would be easy to make, I'd probably use 3/8" to 1/2" plastic.

Samie,
Sounds like either it's a long shaft motor on a short transom, or you have a transducer or speed puck or temp sensor that water is deflecting up off of.

I am on vacation this week. Took all of your advice and did some measuring of the transom and the motor. The motor seems to be mounted too low by about two inches. Did some checking on the internet and found the measurements for both. Will try this coming week and report back. Thanks.
