Hey guys just signed in as a new member and looking forward to great info. from other fisherman/woman.
I live in central Va. and have been traveling to the Outer Banks for about 7 years. Me and a couple of close freinds make the trip several times a year to go offshore. We had been hooked up with a charter boat out of Hatteras for a while but the guy is selling his boat. We are a very experienced crew ethical and very very safe. Anyone know of a way to hook up with another boat (small or large) that would let us fish without the mate. Any suggestions would help

welcome to the board, home of the best and finest fishing people around .[wink]
If you are interested in offshore you might need to go to the mid atlantic page.there you can hook up with others doing what we call the ho thing.
ho--someone who fishes on anothers boat for meeting new friends, learning new skills and helping in any way possible.
good luck. mike

Coast guard regulations require charter trips to have a mate on board for the safety of the pasengers. I know a capt. that got cited by the CG for going without a mate.
go hang around Hooters in kitty hawk and pray that the owner will take you out on his boat. without a doubt, the most bad ass boat on the east coast.

FishingHI,
I will be moving our boat, 43 viking open, down to OI for may thru july.....tried HI a few years ago and swore never to go back....to unpredictable and frustrating wx for my taste. but i did this type of thing last summer for several guys and it worked well. As Jason points out, we would have to "officially" have one of you declared as the mate in the unlikely event we are asked. shoot me a note for details. Rob

I second the hooters boat. That thing is unbelievable. 4 250's on the back will make that thing go. We were fishing right beside them last New years in our 18' boat[grin].
