Went to OC with the intentions of hitting the ocean for some bigger fish. The weather didn't hold so we went with Plan B. We started at the 50 bridge on Saturday with the hoards of other fishermen. We pulled in three small flounder and proceeded with Plan C. We traveled over behind Assateague near the airport and drifted some minnows. We pulled in some croaker and toad fish. After a few drifts and everyone on the boat catching but myself I resorted to a blood worm. I started reeling in spot and croaker left and right. Finally decided to cut up a spot and then the bite got hot. Lots of croaker, a small flounder, two 20" plus blues, and one large skate.
One thing I noticed is that people everywhere were fishing in the channels. Crazy, and I thought the Chesapeake was nuts on the weekend.
I'll be heading back down for another day of fishing before the end of summer for sure.
