Decided to head out by myself saturday morning. Had the lines in the water by 6:00am and was started out around #5. Only trolled for about 30 minutes and picked up two small blues right off the bat but was looking for the spanish so continued down towards #3. Didn't pick anything and made my way across the bay to #66. Once I got there there were a few boats trolling in circles so decided to head that way. When I reach the group of boats again, both lines went down and had two more good size bluefish. After an hour there picked the lines up and headed back towards #5. After getting the lines in the water saw some breaking bluefish. Managed to catch 2 bluefish around 18" and one 21". Almost couldn't keep the rods in the water which got my tired quick. Ended up catching way over 20 fish but only kept 10. The most priceless part of the fishing trip was running out of gas 200 ft from the dock and had to get towed the rest of the way. My Brother went out and managed to catch 6 blues for himself but not sure where he went. I am still hoping for the spanish to come in though.

Also wondering if anyone wanted to partner up and go out sometime since I could use a fishing buddy. None of my family has the patience to fish as long as I can. haha.

Fish Dog,

I was Flounder fishing the drop off inside of Pt. Lookout for about two hours Saturday morning with only two throw back fish of 13" and 15". Listing to you guy's talk on the radio for about an hour I could not stand it any longer and crossed the river to join in on the Blue fish. We caught more than our fair share and the fish were better quality than in weeks past. Did not pick any Mac's out of the bunch all Blues.

I tried to sweet talk her when she was running rough to make the last 200 feet but she couldn't go any farther. Will have to agree with you Keith since this is the first time this year i have caught bluefish over 18". I am just hoping they stay in the area for the rest of the summer. I tried trolling around in that area where they were breaking to see if spanish were mixed in but didn't get anything. Might go past smith point this weekend if the weather was as nice as it was on Saturday.

Fishdog, here's my running out of fuel story:

I ran out of oil on my old VRO center console 200 yards from the dock back in 2006. It shut down but I coaxed it back to the lift and let it sit. I decided to wait until the next weekend to see what permanent damage was done if any. Next week never came, it was Sept. 2006 and Ernesto yanked her off the lift and threw her upside down on shore. It was insured but to make myself feel better I've convinced myself the engine was toast anyway. Yeah right.

Throw some Sta-Bil Marine Blue in your tank, I've been getting some bad gas down there thats been messing with my little Mercury. See you around. Good luck with classes at ODU.
