Late Report.
I made a couple of proto type sails for my Hobie Adventurer. The manufacturer's sail is too big for wind over 10 MPH, especially for fisherman who fishes and carries a lot of stuff. I need a sail that can work well in the wind of 10-17MPH. Light wind was forecasted on the Saturday. The only place I can test the proto type sails was Point Lookout (PLO) after 3:00PM. The wind at PLO was forecasted at 10-15 knots in the afternoon. So I headed for PLO.
In 8'-20' of water from the jetties to Cornfield Point, while drifting, I caught 4 flounders at/below 16 inches until 2:00PM

The wind started blow at around 2:30PM. Between 3:00PM and 6:00PM, I sailed (trolled) in 30'-35' of water with the wind at 10-15MPH. I caught 4 bluefish on deep diving plugs:
The first bluefish caught while sail-trolling:

One of the proto type sails worked very well in the wind of 10-15MPH. I almost got capsized twice when I was hit broad-sided by the gusts of wind (17-18mph) when reeling in bluefish. I didn’t pay attention to the wind and the kayak (sail) directions.

Breezy Point Marina is my home base. I fish between Breezy Point and PLO. When wind blows over 15 knots I fish Solomons Island or St. jerome's Creek.

Yap.
You will get to try sail on this as well as self-rescue practice. You won't be capsized. The sail is fisherman-friendly. I hope the wind of 8-15MPH for sailing. you will enjoy the ride. You will be safe. I already have a safety check list for a kayak with sail. I will try to keep up with you. Though It will be impossible to keep up with you if you pedal while sailing with wind at 10MPH.
I just made the sail with rip-stop nylon fabric and nylon strap according to the one of the prototype sails.
This is the picture of the version 2.1:

Once, I am happy with the model, or I found the better model, I will make one with Mylar sheet (transparent sheet used for wind surfing sail). Mylar sheet is easier to sew with a home use sewing machine.
That time I will put the specs and instructions for how to make it and how to use it in case any Hobie owner is interested in. It will cost about 35-40 dollars.

Thats sweet. I'm out of Rod-N-Reel in Chesapeake Beach and I go to school down at St. Mary's College of MD. So those will basically be my waters as well. Have you tried trolled for Spanish yet with the sail while pedaling, you probably could get going fast enough.

I certainly intended to chase and troll for Spanish Mac from the mid-Aug to end of September off the Breezy Point marina. That is one of the reasons I got the Mirage Hobie for the speed and long distance traveling.
Last year, I gave up to chase breaking fish because my old conventional kayak is too slow and the actions were happening 2 miles away. Breaking fish didn't come to me. I already packed Sea Striker Planers #1 and #2 , and Clark Spoons #00 and #01 for Spanish Mac. The area between Breezy Point and Parker's Creek is definitely better place for Spanish Mac and Stripers for Kayakers. Though I got only one keeper flounder off the Breezy Point last year. I go to PLO for Flounders because my wife prefer flounders over Stripers.

Great looking boat Joe!!!
We had our Heritage Rep come down to our shop the other night and had a new system for some brand but I dont know the name of it yet.
It was pretty cool. It was also a peddle system but the thing that you drop into the water looked like a little trolling motor and all you do is just
peddle it like a bike. each crank arm does a full rotation. Looked pretty cool to me. It also has the option for the lazy guys to hook up and electric
trolling motor. They also had a new yak that looked like surf board/paddle board but a little bit thicker and plastic. It was the coolest thing I have ever seen
done to a Yak. The seat was put on a lazy suzan so you can rotate and fish WHEREVER!!! It also had 4 scotty rod mount holders molded into the kayak.
Its all ready done for you. It is really stable and gives you the opportunity to stand up and fish/flyfish! I will see if I can get the name of the complany tomorrow.

Joey,
Where were you? Were you at a camp or something? Glad to see you on the forum. Whatever the new model is, I hope it does not weight more than 70 lb.
