Had another great day. Paddled out of the OI fishing center in search of reds again. Found a good pod at first light, but they were real picky. Did manage to have a hook-up and quick release on top water, but switched to gulp under a snap cork with 10" of flouro leader. Caught three in the slot and 1 under. Then went in search of flounder, flatty bite was soft too, only managed shorties. Got board of this and tried a deeper flat for specs. With only a half hour left to fish, this is when it worked. No specs, but three quality reds that put me past my "get ur a$$ home time". 23", 24", and 29" back to back to back. The 29 inch grabbed it on a ripping retrieve. I was certain that I had a shark:eek:, but a red with a head like a pit bull was what was on the end. I have only seen one other paddler all week, we are definitely under utilizing this area.

That's good. There's a lot of fish there. Did you go to the left out of the fishing center or to the right? From your description of the area it sounds like you went to the left. On the deeper flat were you in about 4-5' of water? I usually do well there. Specs should be out and to the right.

Awesome report. Big fish are definitely worth the lecture when you're late. I wish big reds like that were common on the western shore of MD.

Colde Duck,
Thanks for the outstanding report!
I am headed to Hatteras this comig week with my family and some yaks, I am definitely going to try the 0I area. I have fished there from motorboats many times but never from a yak, I am really looking forward to it.
