Trying to help keep this site active. I don't know if this is going to help you guys or not. Left Bodkin this morning (5:30 am) and headed to love point. Knew we were due to have high tide at 11:30 so we were looking for an early bite. Found some good marks and put several spot over. Two charters pulled next to us and anchored. They were chumming and using cut bait. They started catching small rock (16-17 inches) and shaking them off the hooks. Their chum attracted some blues and soon we were feeding the little monsters our spot.
We pulled anchor and headed for Podickery. Looked around a little but really wanted to go to the bridge pilings; so without great marks, we headed south. Got to the bridge just before the tide started running out. Checked piling #22 and saw some marks. Freelined spot against the piling to no avail. Headed east and drifted the rock piles-nothing. Went further east to piling #35 and saw some marks. Drifted a spot and WHAM, picked up a 25 incher. The tide was moving perfectly. It was more than just started, but less than ripping. We drifted the piling again and had another pickup but it came unglued. Soon the tide was ripping and it was hard to stay near the piling. Even the spot was being washed past the piling too quickly. It was tough to get them deep enough even with 1 oz. weights. We should have anchored up; but I get leary of anchoring between the bridges, due to cables.
We picked up and headed home with one in the cooler. At least we didn't get skunked! We have been very inconsistant. One day I do well (4 in an hour); next time out one or sometimes none. Just when I think I'm figuring them out; they kick me in the teeth next time.
We have done pretty well at the mouth of eastern bay; but that's to far to run from the Bodkin. Hope this helps; 5th (Marty)

Keep a bleach bottle or detergent jug (empty) on the boat. If you ever hang your anchor - put the jug on the rode and let me know. No big deal getting it free.

Cost you 1/2 dozen donuts though :D.
