This morning I fished the lower part of the stream.
The weather was not that good, overcast with light rain.
Fish where not rising but the bread test showed that the fish where home.
I had quite a few spectators during my fishing session.

My decision to go nymphing behind the weir was not exactly a success.
I wasted a lot of time at that spot and parked quite a few nymphs permanently to the bottom.
I was absolutely positive that there where fish around but they just would not touch the nymphs.
In the end I just dragged a streamer through the pool but that also did not have the desired result.

Further upstream I did spot rising fish so I tied on a CDC mayfly pattern on my leader.
On the first landing I immediately got a good strike on the fly, not a small fish for sure.
The chub however where a lot faster than me and I missed strike after strike.
When I finally hooked a chub it did a Houdini act and I was left with only a bunch of weed on the fly.
With some luck I landed one chub, the only fish of the day.

The rest of the morning remained fishless, the rising stopped and all went dead.
I did try a bread fly near one of the bridges where I knew people would feed ducks.
Although some fish nibbled at the bread fly I had no solid takes.

During a recent visit to his part of the stream I noticed an excavator on the riverbank.
I assumed it was from a farmer but it turned out that they had pulled down a weir to make the river passable for migrating fish.
Seeing the weir removed was icing on the cake for me, skunk avoided and maybe sea run browns or salmon on my stream in the future [:)]
