Our inshore fishing for cobia has really started to pick up now that the water temperatures has reached 68 degrees. Both fishing with live and dead bait back in the sounds and sight casting to free swimming cobia on the shoals and just off the beaches is doing great. There have been a number of cobia caught in the last week that have reached over the 90 lb. mark and more that I care to count from 40 to 60 lbs. The next few weeks will be the best of the the spring cobia run. Then they will move back offshore and further north.

There have been plenty of cobia caught inside the Hook at Cape Lookout as well as behind Shackleford Banks. Boats with towers are sight fishing them just off the beach. There have been 3 or 4 cobia this week over 90 lbs. and the biggest I heard of was 98 lbs.

Fish Finder, What bait is best for the cobia? I will be fishing around OI the week after next all week10th to . Are there any artificial lures that will catch?
I would also like to catch a few speckled trout.
What do you use for the reds?
