I have a problem, that only occurs sometimes, where the straps I use to hold my yak on the roof of my truck hum. Sometimes I can make it stop by placing rags between the yak and the straps, but other times I can't make it stop.
Does anybody have any suggestions for me?

I've been able to stop the hum when I carry my yaks on my truck roof by putting 1-2 twists in the strap.

Yep - couple twists in each side of the strap and you're good to go.

Thanks guys. I'll try that. Heading down to OC this weekend with my wife and she's not a big fan of the hum.
Hopefully I'll have some catch reports next week.

Thanks again for the ideas, worked like a charm. Ended up with three flounder Friday behind ocean city, also saw a school of voracious blues devouring bait right in front of me. Unfortunately they were gone by the time I could get a cast to them.

Just got a kayak and had this problem at first. Just like playing saxiphone, the reed has to be squared up to vibrate right.
Same thing with the straps- They will vibrate if they're square to the wind. Put one twist in them before tightening- that should stop the hum.
