I am taking my 3 girls to Hatteras Island and was wondering if anyone knew of a good location to walk around and pick clams?? I know there used to be the Clam farm in Hatteras Village, i think it is not around anymore. Any spots or tips would be greatly appreciated.

I am npot sure about hatteras but if you take the ferry acrooss there is a good clam bed right beside the ferry channel to the south..

I've racked clams on the bay side. Went out to the point and all the way around to the right to you couldn't drive anymore. That was a few years ago. It was just as productive as Oc. Island. Good luck, nice job getting the kids involved.

anywhere around the duck blinds just rake a little while if you dont get enough then move a hundred yards or so.

get on the grass flats in the mud/soft sand and just walk around and feel them with your feet, bend down and dig them out with your hands, you don't even need rakes.

no but you have a limit and the clams have to be one inch thick go to the NC division of marine fisheries web site
