Every year I buy 100# of shrimp, usually from Wancheese area. Last year I guess the hurricanes messed the season up because I never saw anything in the Virginia Beach papers for shrimp for sale. What I am trying to say, is there shrimp available yet or is it too early. I usually get the med/lg for 3 bucks a pound----thats what I am looking for.

I went with my Dad and Little Brother last weekend and we caught about a pound of tails in three tows. It's still kinda early for them, but it's a good sign that they are here this early. I would give it till about the end of the month and they should be here. I don't know if my Bro will be catching them commerically this year or not, it all depends on how good hard crabbing is. If he does I'll send you a Bmail.

where do you scrimp at down there?
Around Wanchese mostly, sometimes I'll go up to Manteo and shrimp from Pirates Cove north. Sometimes I'll go as far north as the top end of Roanoke Is. and sometimes into Manteo Harbor. It all depends on where they move to. I have gone over to the western side of the island and shrimped near the new bridge. If I find them, or hear where they are being caught, I'll make a post on here and let you know.
