Fishing around Topsail Island

A friend of mine is heading down to Topsail Island next week for a vacation with the family. Her dad would like to catch some fish. They will most likely be fishing from the surf or renting kayaks and fishing from them. Can anyone tell me what they are catching this time of year and any good recommendations for areas for them to try.
