I've tried all my usual spots and all have produced very few big crabs, lots of #2's and more throw backs then I have ever seen. I guess thats good for later in the year or next year but I'm spoiled and don't like the time it takes to eat the smaller crabs, bigger ones can fill you up quicker. I am thankfull that I'm getting crabs, just wish there were more of them. Some have said its the cow nosed rays but they come up the bay every year so I really don't think thats the cause. Maybee over harvesting. Any thoughts or ideas.

John, I was getting some nice big crabs in early July and then I started getting more females and then the little ones. They have to go some where cause they all didn't get caught. They must be in a cave playing cards or something:confused: I hope the fall crabbing is good. Nice Mac's by the way!. Jimmy Buffet is at Nissan Pavillion!!!.........Gary

Yea I've never had so many little ones either, I did see alot of doublers swimming at the surface while I was trolling for Mac's , a few years ago while fishing in Eastern Bay I netted 3 Doz. on a friday, 3 more Doz. on Sat. and 2 Doz. on Sun. Maybee I'll put the line away and the traps and just net them off the surface.

Maybe focus on the shoreline creek entrances for doublers the next two weeks. Just a thought. :))

I was catching some bigger crabs up north (Gunpowder,Bush) before they were loaded up with people i wonder how many big crabs are down there and if they dont get all caught up.none of them make it back down to the botton like the 5 1/2 6 in crabs we are catching now in those rivers
