So what happens typically before and after the storms that run off the coast out here? Do you think it will even be fishable after the storm?

I doubt it will be any worse than it has been (for tuna anyway). I'm hoping the storm breaks up the pea green soup that's been out there.

Hopefully it will get better, will probably push some warm water and debris into the area.

I have had some good fishing after hurricanes, but the fish were there befor the storm. The winds should be lite a day or two after.

It's hard to say what will happen, the waters inside 1000 fathoms looks like it will be West and NWest, water to the east will have some sort of Easterly component to it which is what is needed for at least 2-3 days to change the water as a whole and disperse the ugly stuff, looks like this is only going to last for 24-36 hrs at most, my bet it will just look all the same as it does now.

The best thing to hope for is a strong cold front to sweep down and bring in a BIG area of high pressure that sits up to our north after the front passes, which will give us an onshore flow and bring a few days of blustery NE winds. Typically this happens the closer to fall we get, just how soon we it happens is the deciding factor.

Here is the text for OI. Bar is gonna keep us at the dock. Morehead & Cheasapeake guys could get out & back but I'm guessing OI & HI inlets are gonna be bad.

...SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR HAZARDOUS SEAS REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM
11 PM THIS EVENING TO 8 PM EDT SUNDAY...

INCREASING LONG PERIOD SOUTHEASTERLY SWELL WILL PRODUCE HAZARDOUS
SEAS TONIGHT THROUGH SUNDAY. SEAS WILL BUILD TO 4 TO 6 FEET THIS
EVENING...PEAK AT 8 TO 13 FEET SATURDAY EVENING...THEN GRADUALLY
SUBSIDE ON SUNDAY. THE SWELL WILL ALSO RESULT IN TREACHEROUS
CONDITIONS IN INLETS...ESPECIALLY AROUND THE TIMES OF LOW TIDE.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

A SMALL CRAFT ADVISORY FOR HAZARDOUS SEAS MEANS THAT WAVES ARE
EXPECTED TO BE HAZARDOUS TO SMALL CRAFT. MARINERS SHOULD AVOID
SHOALING AREAS. LONG PERIOD SWELL CAN SHARPEN INTO LARGE BREAKING
WAVES IN SHOALING AREAS. IT IS NOT UNUSUAL FOR WAVES TO BREAK
MUCH FARTHER FROM SHOALING AREAS THAN IS NORMALLY EXPERIENCED.
REMEMBER...BREAKING WAVES CAN EASILY CAPSIZE EVEN LARGER VESSELS.
