Help me Tom Cruise! Catfishing the James.

Well im an offshore angler and looking to make an all nighter catfishing trip soon up in the James. I have a 28ft CC so need to know where to go and which ramp will work for me. Never catfished up there and never been on the river. My draft is 3.5ft. Whats the best bait as well, I am guessing cut spot, croaker, blue carb? Mainly just need to know where to go though, im lost if I can see land and no bright colored fish. LOL

Doggone Wayne you are right on top of these "new guys". If you spent as much time fishing as you do on TF, you'd have next state record by now. Dude they aint bookin' trips - they need info and not everyone wants to run 40 miles to catch a 50 pounder. Call me Doug and I'll do like the "real men" do it, guarantee a 75lb fish !
And if we don't catch one the first 10 trips well...............we keep going till we hang one !

Bob has the 31lb striper and I have the 65 pound bluecat and last week bob hit his personal best with a 63lb blue. 1 mile from the deep bottom boat landing - - - - - :bigfish:

No , you win, :eek2: I only fish in the Dutch Gap area. I'm gonna get a cigarette boat - then I"ll call ya back and I can make it to the bay in 37 minutes, stopping twice to open a cool one.

You got that right Joe. My buddy was fishing near Jordan point and a storm nearly sunk him and several other boats in the area. He was in a 24 ft. Sea Ark and it took on water with the pump running full force. Waves were breaking over the front and sides. He said he'd never been so scared of sinking as he was Sat. You guys be careful out there and wear your life jackets.

Im in !!!!!! Captain Hugh is in, Eberwein is in , and 2 more boats. Captain Hugh said he would like to have an impartial person in all participants boats to discourage in wrong doing. I agree with this theroy. I also think we should do it in Febuary to seperate the men from the boys. Some one once told me that you gotta be tough to be a catfisherman!!! So man up and lets set a date and do this.

Lets set the date for June 5th.( day or night ) This will be one of the hardest times of the year to catch big fish. Feburary is a great time to catch big cats but it will be like flipping a coin as to who will weigh in the largest 2 fish. If this date will work for you guys im in.

I do so fish for catfish! I went last April for a day! Thanks for the kind words Kevin, but you are right...most of my fishing time now is spent down at the beach. Sea King just got married so all he can do now is fish on the internet. Maybe one day he will have the courage to ask her if he can go offshore fishing with me.
