Guys please don't shoot the messenger here. I just received this from the NPS at Assateague Island.

I wanted to let you know that we need to close the OSV zone in Maryland
beginning tonight around midnight. Hurricane Bill is expected to generate
8-11 foot waves here and extreme rip current conditions. We're already
seeing increased wave activity. With predicted lunar influenced high
tides of over 4 feet over the next couple days we're expecting significant
overwash and standing water in the OSV zone. We will be closely monitoring
the damage and recovery from the storm on Sunday but with the wave
intensity and high tides expected to continue into next week we don't
anticipate being able to re-open the OSV zone until at least Monday.
I will keep you posted if anything changes.
We also need to close the small amount of available beach in Virginia to
off road travel by tomorrow morning. We also expect some damage to the
parking lots in Virginia.
