View Full Version : Fishing off of Ches Beach/North Beach

Tired off driving to WV for my kayak fishing, so I am going to give the salt water a go.
I was down at North Beach public beach and the "official" said we could launch from the beach,
is there any good fishing off the beach ? (100-400 yards out ?)
What can one expect to catch ?

I put in at Solomons and fished the bridge piers, but only caught "toadfish"

I have a 10' SOT Redfish, 12' SINK protoge, 16' 160T Pamlico, and a few 14' Mad River Adventures.

The 10' Redfish was my boat of choice at Solomons and the 2 hours I spent kinda got me hooked on the whole Saltwater kayak thing.

Any words of wisdom are welcome.

I would launch from the beach by herrington harbor south and fish the drop off by the channel or go the the gree three legged might even get a flatty. As fer as chesapeake beach goes then go out of the harbour and make a left. In 15-25 foot try there. Also try the long bar in herring bay. If your real adverturous I would try crabbing in west river or in the harbor in herring bay north end. Good luck

that gives me some hope, I am a long time River Smallie kayak fisher, but this salt water is new to me :)

Yeah know, I have been thinking about the whole "drunkin A-hole in a speed boat" thing ?
When on the river with my young kids I am allways "carrying" (SS SP101 .357)
Not sure about taking my kids out in the yaks on the bay with "mixed company", a speed boat comes within 100 yards and I am taking that
as a threat on my kids life ?

100'? try 20'. i just use 3oz pyramid sinker, it will break glass and dent gelcoat :yes: don't want to be someones prison bitch :2guns:
