Been out fishing the mirrodine 17mr on specks . It is very close to the peanut bunker in size and color . Have caught a few 14 to 16 inch specks and some Puppy Drum. The small Blue fish really like the red head white body. The big trout have followed it but have yet to take it. Maybe water to hot? Also caught a few Flounder on it. Been Fishing Gywnn island and Mobjack. Anyone doing anything?

Down here in Carolina that bait is the Heat when Speckled Trout Fishing But for some reason when the water really warms up in the summer time it slows down some. That's my and some buddies experience anyway. I don't know where youre fishing but I saw the thread on the homepage and figured I chime in.

Did you try them on a bobber......works well for some of the large specks

You might try it under a popping cork or Cajun Thunder rig. Sometimes I have used a VERY small clam shot 4"-5" in front of the lure to help it sink quicker.

Got any links / pics to any of those rig's and Lures??? I have a 15' Marlin cc and want to get out on the skinny water to fish spec's and drum... Its one type of saltwater fishing I have not done much... Went to a semiar a few week ago at my fishing club about skinny water fishing... sounded awsome... just need to collect the stuff and go out and try it... Any info would be good..

Phishpinder;
I think most any of the local tackle shops can put you on the rigs that they are using in that particular area. I don't know where you are fishing. WHEN the Spec's are here we use anything from plastic grubs, 3"4"5"; MirrOlures of different colors and styles..There isn't any one lure that is the hot all the time.
Finding the fish is the trick...They have been scarce to say the least. Nothing like it was 15-20 years ago but you can find some now and then.
Good luck,

yeah those mirrodines work good for me on shallow water stripers in the fall and very very well down in hatteras in the fall although a white four inch swim mullet and red jighead is my go to rig!
