Im calling today to cancel my weekend charters. I went offshore on monday hoping to see that Bill had stirred something, but nada. They were CRUSHING the sails a little far of my range though out of OI. Most boats were seeing anywhere from 30-50 fish each.

Danny may come close enough to actually stir up the stream some and turn the fishing on.

Yeah looks like this weekend may be shot also.
I blew it big time not fishing this week (Mon or Tue). We have never really targeted Billfish before on my boat. We just run into a few here & there while trolling for meat every season but the Sailfish bite the last two seasons has been almost like what we saw in Guatemala. Just insane #s of fish showing up in the shallows daily only a stone throw from the inlet. Yesterday sounded like it was flat out sick fishing for the lucky few who were out there in it.
Anyways, I was down at the beach, had perfect weather & all the light gear/dredges in place but none of my regular crew could get off or should I say, (I didn't twist any wrists nor did they twist mine) so now I'm back in NV looking at the OI & PC reports from yesterday & just shaking my head. Best Sail bite EVER & we missed it boys.
I know we suck & all but if ever we were to get in some much needed practice / catch the billfish bug on the light tackle this would of been the week. Like old Bert says "gotta fish for whats biting". Sounds like with as good as the bite is right now, even a blind squirrel could round up a couple nuts. Plus yesterday a fantastic batch of bailers were shared by some of the fleet boats as well.
Went back to check my records & it was almost this exact time last year just outside of the 102 when we saw 15 Sails while Tuna fishing & didn't have the light gear but still managed hooking like 3. We said then that the next time we would hit it hard for sure.
WE suck guys! Now here comes Danny to take this up coming weekend. Last time out on old Fancy was over a month now. July 25th. Longest she's been parked since her re-power last late summer. If it blows this weekend I'm gonna have to at least take her for a run up & down the sound to blow the rust out of her.
Oh well, my dad used to have a famous saying every time us kids asked for something that wasn't on the grocery list, " Maybe next time ". Funny thing is next time never seemed to come.:helpsmilie:
Just kidding guys, If it blows I'll see you Labor day weekend. Should be jonesin big time by then. If we missed the Sails then so be it but if the Eye's show in Sept, then we need to get our lame, seriously rested up asses back up to bat.

Bill I am with you. With a bad oil cooling filter on the Warrior not getting fixed till today keeping us from fishing Sat and Sunday of last week and me being so busy not being able to work on putting my boat back together. I have missed some of the best of the action. Maybe I can squeeze out Friday.
