Everyone keep an eye on on the yet to be named Tropical Storm Danny. Could be here as early as Saturday morning.
Remember that lil' ole tropical storm called Ernesto a few years ago.

I remember that little beast TS Ernesto. Tore up all kind stuff up here on the Rappahannock. Here is a graphic with his track back on Aug 31, 2006. This track pushed a big surge up the bay and the river that turned out to be 3X or more what was predicted even 8 hours before hand:

Ernesto and Isabelle both took a track to the west of the Chesapeake. Damage was massive. My experience is if a storm is heading (or projected to head) to the west, run to protect your boat, property, whatever. To the east, keep a close watch and be ready to run.

Thanks for the heads up. That one computer model track could be a close call. The weather service didn't give us the proper warning on Ernesto. People in Richmond didn't know it was happening until late in the morning on the day of the storm. Lots of damage here and no time to prepare.

Pulled my boat the other day and placed it in the field at Grey's Pt. If Danny gets close, I'm bringing her home to King George. Need to wash the bottom and re-paint anyway.

There you go!
Two evenings ago, I cleaned the hull, yesterday evening I polished the hull and tonight I am going to wax the hull. Hullacious amount of work, even though it is only a 17 footer! I have a buffer, but I get better results by hand.
With the weather report looks like it will be a wet weekend, although the winds don't look too bad (so far). In the back of my mind (what little there is left of it), I thought August was a bit early for us to get a tropical storm. Looks like Danny will be only a fish storm (fingers crossed!)
