Scouting new spots pays off

Started at my usual, but now pretty crowded spot. Caught 4 15-17 inch rocks. Kept one 18 for breakfast.

Skiied mid morn with kids. Oldest son got the hang of a wake board. That was fun.

After lunch I was headed to bottom fish with Son and stopped to look at a spot that I have wanted to check out for a while. Saw nice bottom on FF and threw out two bucktails. Caught a fat 20 and 22 inch rocks in 5mins. They had a nice fight to them and my boy had fun fighting them. Saw two boats slow down and then head my way. Prob paranoid, but I took off fast!

Very rewarding to spend time fishing new spots and hitting pay dirt.

We caught a number of those on the Rapp yesterday too......sure wish we could have kept a couple for the skillet. Our time is coming.

No rockfish this am. Tide was wrong. The spot have moved from my favorite location so I went in search of those. Found them in an area I have not fished in two years. Bottom rigs in 17 to 9 feet. No finese. They hooked themselves. Kept around a dozen for dinner
