Flyfishing Germany August 25th
A morning fishing session was planned in the mountains on the 25th.
When we where at the starting point of the river and gearing up I noticed that the felt sole of my wading shoe came apart.
Although I could hardy walk I still tried to fish.
I managed to catch one little trout but then I called it a day since I could not walk with a broken wading shoe.
I planted my butt on a stone and called my buddy on the radio that my Fishing day was over.
He suggested we go in to town to look up a shoe repair shop, I told him to just finish fishing his stretch.

On the way to the Black Eagle, in the picture the so called Watergate.
Instead of getting lost in town in search for a shoe repair shop I suggested to drive to the hotel first and ask one of the girls from the reception if there was
a tackle shop nearby.
On my way to the hotel I envisioned a two hours drive to Munich but the reception told us a tackle shop was a 20 minutes drive away.
We found the tackle shop, when I walked into the store I saw one employee Messing with ground bait and maggots – not a good sign.
So I just popped the question – do you got wading shoes ?
We’ll they had them, a pallet full of them – all defect though due to a design fault by the manufacturer.
Bummer ! – but hey … did I spot one wading shoe in the background.
We’ll they had one pair left, one size to big for me but hell I bought them Because otherwise my fishing days would be over.
Saved by the bell, my buddy remarked “you are so lucky you will be runover by a train
Someday”. Since we where next to a train station I replied “well I can step on the tracks right now”.
Before we would continue our fishing we would have to eat first and what better place
than the black Eagle in town.
The food was good – the waitresses where nice – you could not ask for more.
The drawback of going there was the fact that you had to pass a small stream that ran
Through the middle of town – a no fishing stretch.
It was cruel to say the least to walk along that stream and see the huge browns standing in the flow.

In town
After lunch we headed for a short session on the main river where I fished with a conehead woolly bugger for rainbow trout.

The fishing was not that hot but from the three hits I got on the fly I managed to Catch two fish – both the expected rainbows.
