250 EFI Merc Died

Been having RPM fluxuation off and on now for 2 month. One trip it ran fine and then next 4000 max. Replaced plugs, fuel is good I am sure of that cause I ran a kicker back on the same fuel.
Fuses are good, no dummy alarms. Knocked real bad and then died. Would'nt even crank. I took the plugs out and spun the flywheel. Nothing unusual....to me anyway.
Motor is a 2000 Merc EFI 250.
Mechanics comin over to look at it just wonderin if anyone has ever had this problem.
I'm thinking digital fuel sensor bad or electronic sensor bad.
Power head?????? Arrrrrrg

Den, i have the same motor isn yr 2001 so i will be interested to here what it is. i would say if it is turning over okay and the plugs look okay then it must be something electrial or some type of control module. hope it is not too big a deal for you.
