Got an early start and gear dropped just a few minutes after legal. 8 keepers on the first run (and nearly twice as many sooks). 2nd run 9 keepers...Ended the day with 39, about 1/2 a basket. It slowed way down after 9 A.M. with a combination of tide slowing and more boats on the water.
crabbing around 6-8' at the mouth of Sue Creek. If we could have kept all the sooks we would have had 2 bushel by 8 AM easily. It's a shame knowing most of them are going to end up in the gauntlet of comm pots just outside the river....Such a waste of young crabs..

I got out today with my wife and daughter after lunch - around 2:00. In two hours or so we had 12 keepers, just off Martin's runway. My wife also pulled in a big eel in a topless trap - she was a bit grossed out and scared by such a snakey-looking thing, so she dumped it overboard.
12 was just enough for the three of us for supper. BTW- no sooks and only 1 throw-back.

Yea, for some reason people have a complex about eels, but they are pretty good - fried, smoked, broiled,...
