Considering shipping aSouthport 28cc to Stuart FL for the winter. What do you all think this should this run him in cost from OC to Stuart one way? He does NOT have his own trailer...
Anyone have any reccomendations.

I had my 25' cobia shipped from naples, fl to bowie, md last year. That cost me 1200, but I had my own trailer. I would say no more then 1800.
Hope this helps.

If trucking the thing is preferable to running her down the coast, consider Andy Young of Hertford, NC. He's got the rig & trailer to truck a boat like yours wherever, he's licensed & insured & is used by several of the factory's down in Eastern NC. He can be reached at (252)312-9774.

Gateway Marina on the Trappe side of the Choptank River Bridge does Florida deliveries. We shipped a 24 a few years ago with them to the Stuart area. I think it was about $1200.00

I just had my 29 Reg & trailer towed up from Meritt Island FL to DE, I paid $1.75/mile (oneway) and if I wanted to have it piggy backed on a 18 wheeler it would have been $3-$3.50 from my limited research.

about 7 years ago....when the economy was strong........had our 28' Albe trucked up from Ft. Lauderdale to Hampton......they had to take the frame work and buggy top of the upper station down and pack it into the cockpit around thew chair....beam made it a wide load...contracted a hauler that transported boats from the factory to dealers ....he was very familiar...ran just shy of 2k...he spent several hours dismantling and packing for the trip up....was going to run it up the ditch but being a new purchase of a used boat....too much rish there w/ a boat that condition had not been proven....went on a transport trailer, not a boat trailer....now with boat sales as poor I imagine guys are hurting for work.....should be able to get a fair price from an experienced transporter....ask for a "CURRENT DATED" certificate of insurance ( a week old cert is not worth anything) with you listed as the certificate holder...you should be able to see how much CARGO coverage he carries, that would be what would pay to fix your boat if it gets damaged/totalled.....good luck....

I used uship.com for my 29' Hydrasport. It's lets people bid on your job and allows you to check if they're legit. It came with its own trailer and ended up costing $1300 from Gulf Shores, Alabama to Virginia Beach. Make sure they are insured and have the appropriate permits. I think it was $2 per mile to put it on a flatbed. Good luck.
