Listed my 9.9 Tohatsu in the classified section for $1200.

Thought this was a good deal but haven't had many calls. Is $1200 too much for a 2001, 9.9 Tohatsu 4-stroke with very low hours?

Probably not. A brand new one is $1800 (pull start) and $2000 (electric start). However people don't recognize the brand name, which is what you get for not buying a Yamaha or something like that, which is obviously more expensive. I wll probably buy one whenever I have to repower my kicker, but its not $ I need to spend now.

Good luck.

i think you are right about name recognition uncljohn. if this was a yamaha it would have sold already.

A guy who looked at it yesterday said he really liked the motor but he had never heard of tohatsu.

what's funny is i know my father would have never paid a dime for a foreign motor...he only ran OMC. apparently he's not the only one who thinks like that.

By the way...just dropped price to $985....don't think i'll go lower than that though. NADA prices it a lot higher.

Just tell them its made by Nissan. Which it is. So technically its just like a Suzuki or Honda!!!
