Who among the LCC license holders reading this post has decided to cash in their license for the $2260.00? I am holding onto mine as long as I can.

Although, I know of a gent who encouraged his wife and daughter into obtaining their LCC licenses thru the apprenticeship program a couple years ago. They both applied and got their licenses.

The objective was not for them to crab commercially, but for them to get the license and then, at a future date, sell it to the highest bidder.

For them I think now is the time.

Who's next?

Keepin mine.....I don't think the time is right to cash in on any "investments" either. Supply and demand. Once the supply goes down the price goes up.

If you love soaking dead chicken necks in the brackish waters of the Chesapeake Bay and catching Blue Crabs with friends and family then, "you are probably a Chicken Neckin Redneck"

Guilty as charged. :clap::clapping2:

I'm not selling and the commercial guys I know are keeping their licenses too. Four good weekends of crabbing and you can make that buy-out money....
I feel for the older commercial guys who have not used their license in waiting to hand it down to someone in the family; they may get bum deal....

not fore sale now or ever. i can make good $ when the crabs are there, i also loss $ at times. i'm a crabaholic baybilly to the end. dnr talked my father out of his lcc 35 years ago and it was not easy getting one and maintaining it so this bull$hit would'nt happen. they can take my lic. when they peel my cold dead fingers from around my steering stick.

I will not be selling mine either. In fact I am in the process now of trying to get the 300 pot license before they change something with that.

I think the people that are selling them might be going through a tough time right now like some others, this economy does suck! Hey when you need the money you need the money. But if i wasnt forced to sell mine, HELL NO.

I had a freind with an inactive license he sold it back to them for the $2200, that is the only one that I know of.
don't know anyone with an active license that sold it back, I feel that active licenses are worth more than $2200

I agree! The licenses are worth a lot more than $2260.00.

Here's some facts that I learned today that I think some folks are not completely aware of:

The buy-back has a cap of ~1300 LCC licenses. As of today around 300 have been sold back to the state. The monetary allotment of $$$$$$ is the limiting factor on the number of licenses the state can afford to buy back. When/if that amount is spent, the buy back offer will be withdrawn.

This Fall, inactive LCC license holders can expect to have the regs changed to allow them to harvest male crabs ONLY and their licenses will become NON TRANSFERABLE.

Anyone who received a letter indicating their license is ACTIVE will experience no (immediate) changes.

No way no how! But I love how DNR can buy just the liciense and not the business. Gee, I thought that was illeagal. I guess what is good for the goose is NOT good for the gander. Polecat thanks for the info! I think if people knew the facts about it they might not sell. Most LCC holders I know don't harvest females anyway.
